As you may know, we are planning a major expansion to a total of 7,000 bikes in five Bay Area cities. Many San Francisco stations planned for 2017 installation and shown on the station maps have not yet been installed. Our team has been working hard on finding successful locations for these stations.
Below is an update by neighborhood and our plans to expand westward.
Over 200 people took the Cole Valley bike share survey (results here). An SFMTA public hearing for the preferred location, on Carl St at Clayton St, is expected to take place in mid-April. Once the date is confirmed by the city you can either email or attend the hearing to share your support.
Finding locations for bike share stations in the Haight has been difficult. We have been meeting with community groups, doing additional station siting and gathering input from neighbors and community stakeholders. We look forward to working with Supervisor Brown to determine next steps for installing stations.
Over the past year, we have received suggestions from District Supervisors, multiple community groups and other stakeholders to design a system to serve the western region of San Francisco. Our team is in the process of reviewing these suggestions to evaluate their feasibility and design the most effective bike share program. Stay tuned for future proposed stations in your neighborhood.
