Growing and Evolving Bike Share in the Bay

Not only can we expect more bikes and bike share in the future, but we're excited for the GoBike system to have a new look.

Big things are coming to bike share in the Bay Area. The biggest change is Lyft’s recent acquisition of Motivate, the previous operator of Ford GoBike. Lyft’s commitment to sustainability and transportation will allow the program here to continue to grow and evolve into a vital component of the region’s transit network. Already with Lyft’s support, we've been able to add over a thousand ebikes last December with lots more on the way.

With the transition from Motivate to Lyft, it was also announced that the Ford sponsorship of the program would be ending. Ford’s sponsorship was instrumental in growing bike share in the Bay Area, and the program’s growth would not have been possible without their support.

Not only can we expect more bikes and bike share in the future, but we're excited for the GoBike system to have a new look. We look forward to working with city and community partners to invest in a design that best fits the communities we serve. And we would love to hear from you!
