Bike Here, Fly There

Ford GoBike Partners with Alaska Airlines on Miles-for-Miles Rewards Program

Ford GoBike has announced a founding partnership with Alaska Airlines with a first-of-its-kind loyalty rewards program. Starting today, Ford GoBike riders can earn 10 Alaska Airlines miles every time they ride a Ford GoBike. Offered directly in the Ford GoBike App, riders can link their Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan or join for free to instantly start earning miles with each bike ride. By biking here and flying there, travelers are able to take advantage of 60+ nonstop Alaska Airlines flights from the Bay Area.

Available on iOS and Android

To celebrate the partnership launch, Alaska Airlines and Ford GoBike, joined by San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, regional officials and community members, held an event at the lively San Pedro Square Market. Honored attendees gathered downtown in San Jose – the third largest city in California – to hear first-hand details of the founding partnership, and had the opportunity to participate in a charity bike ride that raised a combined $2,000 dollars from Motivate and Alaska Airlines for Salvation Army Northern California wildfire relief efforts, adding to an already-existing $50,000 donation from Alaska Airlines.

“Alaska Airlines is committed to providing Bay Area residents with accessible, convenient and sustainable modes of transportation,” said Alaska Airlines’ External Relations Vice President Diana Birkett Rakow. “As part of creating an airline that people love, we want to deliver high value for loyal guests, including the opportunity to get 'more bang for your bike' every time you ride a Ford GoBike. Our dedication to innovation has led us to be a globally recognized leading airline in corporate sustainability efforts and we continually look to make an impact on the local level as well through our active community engagements such as the Salvation Army.”

“Think about it, your daily commute to work could end up earning you a flight to a vacation.” said Motivate President and CEO Jay Walder.

As part of the founding partnership, Alaska Airlines is sponsoring 100 percent of the Ford GoBike stations in San Jose, and a total of 250 stations throughout the Bay Area.
