The recently renovated SFMOMA is one of the largest museums in the country, housing more than 33,000 pieces of modern and contemporary art.

The museum was founded in 1935, and recently re-opened its doors after a three-year-long expansion project that more than doubled its gallery space and created six times as much public space.

One of the world’s largest museums for modern and contemporary art, SFMOMA houses paintings by Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, Richard Diebenkorn and Robert Rauschenberg, as well as pieces by Louise Bourgeois and Tokujin Yoshioka, and media by Bruce Conner and Christian Marclay.

With multiple stations nearby, it’s easy to visit SFMOMA as part of a day exploring the city with Ford GoBike.
