Oakland Museum of California

Located near Lake Merritt, the Oakland Museum of California celebrates the rich story of California through art, history and natural sciences.

The museum holds nearly two million objects that represent the story of the Golden State – including paintings, photographs, crafts, historical artifacts from the Gold Rush and World War II and natural specimens that showcase California as a hotspot for biodiversity.

One of our favorite events is the Friday nights at OMCA, when visitors can enjoy half-off admission, food trucks, music and more.

Take Ford GoBike for a spin around Lake Merritt, and then drop off the bike at one of our nearby stations and explore the museum.
